A internet site for local authorities
Many products have been developed under Plone to adapt a Plone Site for local authorities.
Some town have specificaly worked on a particular skin to create a "local authorities portal". The idea is to create an installable product that will help to start directly with a more citizen oriented site.

Some freshly out sites are already using this skin. A good point in this skin is to give a way to develop subsites by cha,ging the global banner of the site (keeping the original town logo).
The interest of using Plone for a town website is to give the possibility for users (that could be town employees or citizen) to become a site content producer instead than a "simple" internet user.
The idea of the portal is very important too : instead of dispersing local informations on several sites, keep the information on a portal website where it will be easier for citizen to find their informations.
Technicaly, here are some functionnalities :
- a "by theme" navigation
- the integration of some particular portlets like "banners"
- some specific skinning that give a more "professionnal" behaviour to the site
- a way to easily change the banner and/or css in a given folder of the site that give an impression of subsite
- some particular portlet and image skinning (PloneGazette, ATGoogleMaps, ...)
